Worship & Teaching

Most people probably have a good idea of what teaching is, but worship is such a difficult word, we find. In his letter to the Romans, in the New Testament, St Paul writes 'Therefore I urge you, brothers, ... to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship' (Chapter 12, v1). We understand this to mean that the perfect Christian life is dedicated to pleasing God at all times, 24/7, and the whole of this process is our worship.

However the word is often also used to refer to those times we specifically set aside to devote our attention exclusively to the Lord God. In a traditional church the prime example of such an occasion is of course the Sunday service, but other examples are prayer meetings, Bible studies and other small group meetings, and of course these are not restricted to Sundays.

It is this second use of the word 'worship' which this section is about, and under the various headings on the left you will find more about these aspects of life in our church.
