Hope 08
At a recent Christ Church 10.30am Sunday service the mother and son team, Jacquie and Sam Follett, enthused about the initiative Hope 2008 ( www.hopestalbans.org ). The aim was to inform and excite people about the potential of this project.
They pointed out that what is envisaged is not very different to what we have done before, in particular at our Works Weekends. The chief difference is that these activities would be sustained over the whole year and would be done in co-operation with other churches countrywide.
The response from the congregation was positive with a goodly number from a mixture of ages expressing interest after the service.
In November a dozen church members met to begin getting some ideas together for Hope 08 as a church, or as churches together in the city of St Albans.
Leaders of all the churches in the area were contacted at the beginning of the year, and a number have indicated an interest in joining with us in city-wide action.
The Outreach Action Group has been keeping an eye on how this fits with Christ Church’s ‘Wonder Works’ programme.
The next step is a meeting with representatives from other churches, and our members, to decide on exactly what activities can be done, and who will ‘figurehead’ them.
