Works Weekend and Fun Day

For quite a few years now we have made the first weekend in May a special one for us and as many of our neighbours as we can. We now call this weekend "The Works Weekend" and it normally consists of various community projects on the Saturday and a "Fun Day" at the church on the Monday.

We do this because we really want to not just believe in, not just talk about, but actually demonstrate God's unconditional love to our local community. Over the weekend we do things like:- painting the local school hall, gardening in various places, painting bus stops, spring-cleaning the scout hut on Oysterfields, visiting the elderly in their nursing homes, tidying up litter, washing cars, giving away refreshments, smiling, chatting, listening, praying and generally trying to be "good news" to those around us.

Fun Day

The Fun Day involves us giving away food and providing lots of free entertainment like inflatable attractions, a "tea tent", face-painting and the like, live music and hopefully an all-round fun kind of day!

We do all this as a way of showing that there are "no strings attached" to God's love. We would love people to become part of God's family, but we will love people just the same whether they do or not - because that is what our Heavenly Father and His son Jesus are like.

If you've never been to the Fun Day, please do come along this year. It's on the first Bank Holiday Monday in May at 1.30pm. And if you'd like to join us in doing some worthwhile community projects on the Saturday, just give us a ring.
