Aims and Vision
AIMS AND DIRECTIONS OF OUR CHURCH
In our vision statement we state that we are called to become an ALL AGE COMMUNITY on a SHARED JOURNEY OF FAITH making the EDGE THE CENTRE. As we try to be faithful disciples (followers) of the Lord Jesus Christ here, these three statements help explain how and why we do the things we do.
An All Age Community.
Being a community is important to us and we are working hard to be a place where all who want to can belong and be part of what God is doing. This particularly means recognising the needs and enthusiasms of people of all ages as well as people of all different stages of faith.
On a Shared Journey of Faith.
Faith and discipleship is a journey. We are all at different places on the journey and we are all travelling, never feeling as if we have completely “arrived”. But we are not alone on that journey. It is a shared one and we are working hard to learn together what it means to be better disciples.
Making the Edge the Centre.
But not only are we called to be disciples: God calls us to make disciples of others. We are working hard to do this, trying to communicate with all sorts of people in ways that make sense to them. We are also learning what it means to love those who we don’t yet know (to love the “stranger”).
These are our general aims. The way it is expressed at Christ church is through:
- Personal commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ
- Joining in regular public and private worship
- Being a witness to others about Jesus
- Being part of a small group
- Helping with one or more of our regular or special activities
- Contributing financially to the work we do
- Praying for our life and witness
