Stroke Club
The club is run by volunteers for people who have had a stroke and as a result have speech and language difficulties (dysphasia).
We provide opportunities for members to develop confidence in communication through word games, worksheets, and group activities leading to conversation. Tea ad coffee etc give time for socialising and there are periods of gentle exercise. Visiting speakers or groups give informative talks or entertain, and, when funds allow, outings are arranged.
Members and volunteers all pay £2 subscription each Tuesday to cover room hire, insurance, and refreshments. New members are referred to us by speech therapists or GP's and we are keen to attract new volunteers, especially to help with driving people to and from the meetings on Tuesdays from 10:30 to 12:30. (Small mileage allowance and no subscription if you don't stay!)
Come and join this friendly group.
