Homeworks Day
This was an initiative that began in the autumn 2005. It seemed like a natural follow-on from the Works Weekend, which we had been doing for at least five years. At the Works Weekends we had been doing a number of community projects like painting the local Primary School’s library and hall. It occurred to us that if we can do such big projects for others, why can’t we do similar things for ourselves.
So we set aside a Saturday to work on the Church buildings and grounds to keep them in good order.
In 2007 we completed the painting of the worship area, which we had begun the previous year. Our biggest project in 2008 was to put in a ramp at the side of the small meeting room to improve access, particularly for the disabled. Having done a lot of painting recently we aimed to do some improvements that called on different skills.
We suggest a number of projects, but what gets done depends on what the church members volunteer to do.
This years homeworks day is on Saturday 12th September 2009 from 10am to 4pm.
